Who can buy?

Nicola Morris If there is more than one applicant for the same property, we will allocate that property in accordance with the priorities below.

Other issues including affordability and household occupancy will also be considered.

Typically a one bedroom property will be allocated to a single person or a couple. Two bedroom properties allocated to couples or families with one or more children.

People who may be eligible to buy a home from Gateway

1. Public Sector tenants in Tower Hamlets

wholly releasing their accommodation. In the case of RSL tenants, the RSL must give a nomination right to the Council.

2. Leaseholders in blocks being decanted in anticipation of demolition as part of a regeneration programme

who would have a right to be re-housed by LBTH

3. Key Workers in the LB Tower Hamlets

Examples: Teachers, social workers, NHS staff, fire fighters, Police, public transport workers, public sector employees,youth and community workers

4. Other Council or RSL tenants in Tower Hamlets

who may not entirely release council accommodation when they move or those registered on the housing waiting list that live in overcrowded Council or RSL accommodation.

5.Those registered on the Tower Hamlets Council waiting list

and others who live in Tower Hamlets in private rented accommodation or who live with family and friends and those who are not registered on the council waiting list.

6. Other persons working in LBTH

and those with strong family ties within LBTH.

7. RSL Shared Ownership lessees in the LB Tower Hamlets

where the RSL will give a referral right to the council.

8. All others registered with Housing Options
and currently living or working in the Boroughs of Havering, Waltham Forest, Redbridge, Hackney, Newham, Barking and Dagenham and Corporation of London.
