Sheltered schemes

Gateway owns and manages 17 sheltered schemes in Tower Hamlets.

All schemes have a Scheme Manager employed for 35 hrs per week, with a warden call system in each flat for when the Scheme Manager is not on site. All schemes have security entrances with intercom.

The majority of schemes have well-established social clubs and arrange outings, events and parties for residents. Gateway makes a donation each year to every scheme for a Christmas event.

Edith Ramsay House, Duckett Street, E1 4TD - Map

Edith Ramsay House has 34 1 bed flats and 4 studio flats on 3 floors with one lift. It has a large communal lounge and kitchen, laundry, guest room and garden.

St. Thomas House, West Arbour Street, E1 0PY - Map

St Thomas House has 17 studio flats and 4 one-bed flats on 2 floors. There is no lift. There is a communal lounge and kitchen, laundry, guest room and garden.

Whitechapel, E1

Mosque Tower, Fieldgate Street, E1 1JU - map

The Mosque Tower is a scheme specifically for Asian and Somali elders. It has 33 flats and is situated next to East London Mosque in Whitechapel. The Mosque Tower accepts people of age 55 or older.

Bethnal Green, E2

Ted Roberts House, Parmiter St, E2 9NH - Map

Ted Roberts House has 24 one-bed flats and 6 two-bed flats over three floors with one lift. There are 2 wheelchair accessible flats. There is a large communal lounge/kitchen, laundry room, guest room, shower room and garden. Most flats have a private balcony or garden.

Mandela House has 29 one-bed flats over two floors. There is one lift. Facilities include a recently redecorated communal lounge and kitchen, laundry, guest room, garden and CCTV.

Rochester Court, Wilmot Street, E2 0BP - Map

Rochester Court has 32 one-bed flats on three floors. There is one lift. It has a lounge and kitchen, laundry, CCTV and garden.

Hugh Platt House, Patriot Square, E2 9NS - Map

Hugh Platt House has 18 one-bed flats on three floors, with one lift. Most flats benefit from a private balcony or patio. There is a recently redecorated communal lounge and newly refurbished communal kitchen, laundry and garden. Hugh Platt House's roof has recently been replaced.

Bustaan Radaa, Pollard Row, E2 6NA - map

Bustaan Radaa is a scheme specifically for Somali elders. Opened in 2006, it has 16 flats, with a communal lounge and kitchen, garden, laundry and prayer facilities. Bustaan Radaa accepts people of age 55 or older.

Bow, E3

Ruth Court, Medway Road, E3 5DS - Map

Ruth Court has 24 one-bed flats on three floors, with one lift. Most flats have a private balcony or garden. There is a large communal lounge and kitchen, guest room, CCTV and garden.

Regency Court, Norman Grove, E3 5EG - Map

Regency Court was completely refurbished in 2002. It has 20 one-bed flats, 3 adapted one-bed flats and 7 studio flats. 4 flats are wheelchair accessible. There is one lift. There is a communal lounge and kitchen, a disabled toilet and guestroom.

Vic Johnson House, Armagh Road, E3 2HT - Map

Vic Johnson House has 32 one-bed flats over three floors. There is one lift. There are 2 communal lounges and a large kitchen, a large garden, laundry, guestroom and CCTV.

John Bond House, Wrights Rd, E3 5LE - Map

John Bond House has 12 one-bed flats on two floors, all overlooking the communal garden. Ground floor flats also have private gardens. There is no lift. Facilities include a communal lounge, kitchen with washer/dryer, laundry, CCTV and communal garden.

Lawrence Close, E3 2BQ - Map

Lawrence Close has 30 flats on 3 floors, with one lift. One flat is wheelchair accessible. There is a communal lounge, kitchen and laundry. The scheme also benefits from CCTV.

Appian Court, Parnell Road, E3 2RS - Map]

Appian Court has 30 one-bed flats over 4 floors. There is one lift and two flats are wheelchair accessible. There is a communal lounge, kitchen and laundry, as well as a garden. The scheme adjoins the Age Concern Day Centre and residents are welcome to use all the facilities this centre provides.

William Guy Gardens, Talwin Street, E3 3LE - Map

William Guy Gardens has 17 one-bed flats on three floors. There is no lift. There is a communal lounge and kitchen and large communal garden. The scheme benefits from CCTV.

St John's House was recently refurbished (completed in 2001). It has 22 studio flats and 8 one-bed flats on two floors. There is one lift. There is a large communal lounge with kitchen, two laundry rooms and a guest flat. There is also a communal garden.

John Tucker House, Mellish Street, E14 8NS - Map

John Tucker House has 34 one-bed flats, 9 with wheelchair access. There is one lift. Facilities include a large communal lounge with kitchen, garden, disabled access bathroom and CCTV.
